Amsterdam has so much to offer, especially in food and drink. Find some of our favorite spots below!
Foodhallen: something for everyone!!! We visited the Amsterdam location of Foodhallen, which has 21 stands offering different types of cuisine from spanish tapas, to indonesion street food, to crepes. We stopped here to eat a few times because it was easy for everyone to find something. Some of our favorites were the pita and potatoes!

Stroopwafels!! We had never had them prior to visiting the Netherlands. Now you can find them at the grocery store or Starbucks, but they don’t even come close to comparing to the originals at a street stand in Amsterdam. Its a little unclear on which is the true original- but we had them from a few different stands and they were always phenomenal! Try the nutella dipped version for an even tastier experience.

Van Stapele cookies: dark chocolate cookies with a white chocolate filling. We waited in line for about 10 minutes before getting fresh, warm, delicious cookies! It was a great mid-afternoon treat as we walked through the city.

Wynand Fockink: a distillery founded in 1679. Mind blowing from an American’s perspective!! The drinks were fantastic, but the service may be even better! Our bartender took the time to get to know us and give some recommendations for things to do in the city. We appreciated the friendly atmosphere despite the busy time of day.

French. Fries. They are everywhere around the city. They come with all kinds of different dipping sauces, but my favorite had to be just plain mayo. I don’t know why these are so good, but I could eat a serving of these every day as we were walking around the city. I would highly recommend!

Overall- you can’t go wrong with trying all different types of cuisine in Amsterdam. It truly is a melting pot with a little bit of everything. These highlights are just a small portion of what the city has to offer.
